I heart Philippines
I must admit that I can’t be the ideal ambassador for my country because there are many things that I still don’t like about, well, the way it’s being ran. But I love my country to bits. I love its geographical location, the tropical weather, the beaches even if I’m not a beach bum, and most especially the food, the diversity of food.
So I was a bit surprised, well not surprised really, when a media person talked about all the humiliating and embarrassing everyday things Filipinos do during a round-table press lunch recently with a Hong Kong national. Lest he forgot, the Manila hostage crisis put a dent on our relationship with Hong Kong and China so the least we need is another bad publicity. Oh well, I know the person so why should I be surprised.
So, from this day on, I’m resurrecting this blog and will try to write about the wonderful things happening in my country. I’m not a hypocrite, I’m obsessed with Europe and its culture but instead of putting down my country, I’ll follow European countries’ example of highlighting what is good in their shores and tell them to the world. Pardon my sloppy writing but I just want to salvage my country from all the bad publicity it gets.
