Very poetic. Very articulate.
If only all men are as good as Daniel Day-Lewis...I love the words he used in his speech. Made me fall in love with him all over again.
Day-Lewis is the hands-down winner for Best Actor at the Oscars. He swept most of the awards this season.
I've always loved Daniel as an actor because he is one of the handful few who truly earns the term "actor." He loses himself in his character and not one in his movies did I find any mannerism of Daniel. Always, it is the character that I see. He blends with it and truly gives face to what the role calls for.
He's been my favorite since I saw him on "My Left Foot." It was a Holy Week and because there were not much to see, I stuck to it. It was my most precious moment having discovered someone like him to look up to. His dedication on his craft is simply remarkable. I've watched all his films and never tire of waiting for his movies. Because, it's always worth the wait. He is my ultimate favorite and always tops my most favorite people in the world.
Apology for using saying this: For me he is the god of all actors. As one actress said: There is only one Daniel Day Lewis.

And that's the closest I'll ever come to getting a knighthood, so thank you.
My deepest thanks to the members of the Academy for whacking me with the handsomest bludgeon in town. I'm looking at this gorgeous thing you've given me and I'm thinking back to the first devilish whisper of an idea that came to him and everything since and it seems to me that this sprang like a golden sapling out of the mad, beautiful head of Paul Thomas Anderson.
I wish my son and my partner HW Plainview were up here with me, the mighty Dillon Freasier. So many people to thank. One amongst them would be Mrs. Plainview down there, the enchantingly optimistic, open-minded and beautiful Rebecca Miller.
I hope that all those to whom I owe and to whom I feel the deepest gratitude will forgive me if I say just simply, "Thank you, Paul."
I've been thinking a lot about fathers and sons in the course of this, and I'd like to accept this in the memory of my grandfather, Michael Balcon, my father, Cecil Day-Lewis, and my three fine boys, Gabriel, Ronan and Cashel. Thank you very much indeed. Thank you.
